Description

The Fish Head Nebula
The bright corner of the Heart Nebula, IC1796 resembles the head of a fish.
This region f the sky spans some 65 light years across and is some 7000 light years from Earth.

This image was captured through 3nm ultra-narrowband filters and is a composite of ionized Sulphur, Hydrogen, and Oxygen atoms and displayed with a modified SHO “Hubble” Palette. Data was collected over 3 nights from the 9th to the 21st of December 2021 from the outskirts of Vancouver, Canada (Bortle 6). Most of the data was captured with the full moon.
